About ICEWR 2026

The 1st International Conference on Ecohydrology and Water Resilience (ICEWR 2026) is a conference organised by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (JPS) in collaboration with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). To be held from 6th to 8th of October 2026 at The Everly Putrajaya, ICEWR 2026 will serve as an international platform that brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and industry stakeholders to exchange knowledge, present research findings, and discuss innovative solutions related to ecohydrology and sustainable water management. ICEWR 2026 will also provide opportunities to strengthen collaboration between academia, government agencies, and international partners in addressing water-related challenges.

For Authors

ICEWR 2026 requests all authors to conform with the given paper submission guidelines, and ensure the best quality to achieve a positive review and acceptance for publication.

Paper Submission Guidelines

  1. An author wishing to present in ICEWR 2026 will create a document consisting of a complete description of his/her ideas and applicable research results in eight (8) to ten (10) pages only, including all text, figures and references.
  2. A maximum of two (2) papers may be submitted by the same first author. If the same first author submits two (2) papers, a supplementary publication fee is due for the additional paper.
  3. Papers should be formatted according to the Guidelines described here. All papers must be written in English and submitted in MS Word (.doc or .docx) for both the review process and camera-ready (final manuscript) submission.
  4. Papers submitted for presentation and publication must strictly follow the Appointed Publisher's Paper Template. Please fill the Copyright Transfer Agreement form and upload it together with your paper.

  5. Accepted papers must be presented at ICEWR 2026 by one of the authors, or, if none of the authors are able to attend, by a qualified surrogate. The presenter must register for ICEWR 2026 at one of the rates offered, and must register before the deadline given for author registration. Failure to register before the deadline will result in automatic withdrawal of your paper from the conference proceedings and program.
  6. The paper must be an original contribution. By submitting a manuscript to ICEWR 2026, the author guarantees that it has not been previously published (or accepted for publication) in substantially similar form. Furthermore, no paper that contains significant overlap with the contributions of this paper either has been or will be submitted during the ICEWR 2026 review period to any other journal or conference.

Paper Template

Authors shall prepare their papers according to the template provided in the link below. The template contains instructions for the preparation of your paper. Papers that do not comply with the prescribed format will be rejected.

Paper Review Process

  1. Papers submitted will be pre-screened for conformity with submission guidelines and for overall appropriateness. Papers that pass the initial screening process will then be double-blind reviewed.
  2. The double-blind peer review process is employed to ensure that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous during the review process. Expert specialists will be selected to perform the reviews.
  3. This process will take place prior to the presentation at ICEWR 2026 and the publication of the proceedings. Authors will receive feedback in the form of a peer review report. The paper peer review process and the outcomes presented in the review reports will be monitored and verified by the Publication Committee.

Paper Publication

  1. Accepted papers presented at ICEWR 2026 will be published in the Journal of Water Resources Management (e-ISSN: 2811-3578).
  2. Publication of papers in the proceedings is conditioned on a positive assessment by Reviewers and the Publisher.
  3. Failure to present at ICEWR 2026 will result in the automatic withdrawal of your paper from the conference proceedings.

For Presenters

ICEWR 2026 requests all presenters to conform with the given presentation guidelines, paying particular attention to the method and requirements for your oral presentation.

Presentation Guidelines

  1. Presentations during the ICEWR 2026 technical sessions will be conducted in-person at the conference venue.
  2. Each presenter will be allocated a slot to present their paper orally during the technical sessions. If you are presenting more than one paper, you will be given multiple slots. A maximum of fifteen (15) minutes will be allocated for the oral presentation.
  3. The Q&A session will be conducted immediately after each presentation. A maximum of five (5) minutes will be allocated for each Q&A session.
  4. Your oral presentation must be accompanied by Microsoft PowerPoint slides. Please prepare a maximum of fifteen (15) slides. This is to ensure that your oral presentation does not exceed the time limit.
  5. When preparing your presentation slides, special attention must be paid to the font size chosen (i.e. no smaller than 20 pt), the choice of colour scheme for the background and text, avoiding text-heavy slides, avoiding injudicious use of object builds (animations) and slide transitions, and keeping your presentation as simple as possible.

Registration Policy

  1. All participants must register to attend ICEWR 2026 either as a presenter, an attendee or an exhibitor.
  2. One registration serves one (1) participant only.
  3. The registration fee covers admission for one (1) person to the conference, food & beverages, certificate and professional services charge.
  4. Presenter registration fee also includes publication and reviewer fees for one (1) paper in the conference proceedings.
  5. Exhibitor registration fee also includes fee for one (1) exhibition booth.
  6. An author in the role of first author shall submit a maximum of two (2) papers only. The additional paper by the same first author will incur an extra charge to the registration fee.
  7. Registrations may not be transferred to anyone.
  8. Only paying participants will be allowed access to the conference and receive their certificate. Co-authors, who wish to participate must register as attendees and pay the fee.
  9. Once the registration fees have been paid there will be no refunds.

Cancellation Policy

Confirmed registrants who do not participate or who cancel will forfeit their registration fees. Refunds will not be given for no-shows. ICEWR 2026 reserves the right to cancel any event if the minimum registration is not met. In the event of an ICEWR 2026 cancellation, all registration fees will be refunded.

No-Show Policy

Papers that are accepted must be presented at ICEWR 2026, either by the authors themselves, or via proxy. In case a paper is not presented at ICEWR 2026, it shall be deemed a "no-show". No-shows will be removed from post-conference distribution and will not be available on open-access publications.

Exceptions to this policy will be made in rare and unusual situations by the Organising Committee only if there is evidence that the no-show occurred because of unanticipated events beyond the control of the authors, and that every option available to the authors to present the paper was exhausted.

Authors of no-show papers wishing to appeal the no-show status of their paper must appeal by email to the Organising Committee no later than 14 days after the start of ICEWR 2026 and must provide evidence to convincingly demonstrate that their absence was as a result of forces beyond their will and control, or that an erroneous decision was made.

Decisions on appeals will be made by the Organising Committee based on the supporting evidence provided. Failure to meet the appeals deadline will automatically result in rejection of the appeal. Possible evidence for exceptions include medical documents, death notices, and other official documents supporting the appeal.
