The 4th International Symposium on Civil and Environmental Engineering (ISCEE 2022) is a summit of four conferences organised by the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, and co-organised by the Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment, UCSI University and Transportation Science Society of Malaysia (TSSM). To be held virtually on the 3rd and 4th of October 2022, ISCEE 2022 aims to provide a platform for exchange of knowledge and ideas between practitioners, researchers and scientists from both the academia and the industry on current and future practices in engineering, science and technology for a more sustainable world, conforming with the theme below.

ISCEE 2022 takes place
For Authors
ISCEE 2022 requests all authors to conform with the given paper submission guidelines, and ensure the best quality to achieve a positive review and acceptance for publication.
Paper Submission Guidelines
- An author wishing to present in ISCEE 2022 will create a document consisting of a complete description of his/her ideas and applicable research results in six (6) to eight (8) pages only, including all text, figures and references.
- A maximum of two (2) papers may be submitted by the same first author. If the same first author submits two (2) papers, a supplementary publication fee is due for the additional paper.
- Papers should be formatted according to the Guidelines described here. All papers must be written in English and submitted in MS Word (.doc or .docx) for both the review process and camera-ready (final manuscript) submission.
- Papers submitted for presentation and publication must strictly follow the Appointed Publisher's Paper Template.
- Accepted papers must be presented at ISCEE 2022 by one of the authors, or, if none of the authors are able to attend, by a qualified surrogate. The presenter must register for ISCEE 2022 at one of the rates offered, and must register before the deadline given for author registration. Failure to register before the deadline will result in automatic withdrawal of your paper from the conference proceedings and program.
- The paper must be an original contribution. By submitting a manuscript to ISCEE 2022, the author guarantees that it has not been previously published (or accepted for publication) in substantially similar form. Furthermore, no paper that contains significant overlap with the contributions of this paper either has been or will be submitted during the ISCEE 2022 review period to any other journal or conference.
- Upon notification of acceptance of your paper, the Corresponding Author shall fill and submit a Declaration Form (download below) together with the Camera Ready paper.
Paper Template
Authors shall prepare their papers according to the template provided in the link below. The template contains instructions for the preparation of your paper. Papers that do not comply with the prescribed format will be rejected.
Paper Review Process
- Papers submitted will be pre-screened for conformity with submission guidelines and for overall appropriateness. Papers that pass the initial screening process will then be double-blind reviewed.
- The double-blind peer review process is employed to ensure that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous during the review process. Expert specialists within the fields of Civil and Environmental Engineering will be selected to perform the reviews.
- This process will take place prior to the presentation at ISCEE 2022 and the publication of the proceedings. Authors will receive feedback in the form of a peer review report. The paper peer review process and the outcomes presented in the review reports will be monitored and verified by the Editorial Committee.
Paper Publication
- Accepted papers presented at ISCEE 2022 will be published in IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science (ISSN: 1755-1315) that is indexed by Scopus
, Clarivate Web Of Science (WoS) Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Science (CPCI-S) , Ei Compendex, EBSCO Discovery Service, SCite, NASA Astrophysics Data System, British Library Services, and others. - Publication of papers in the proceedings is conditioned on a positive assessment by Reviewers and the Publisher.
- Failure to present at ISCEE 2022 will result in the automatic withdrawal of your paper from the conference proceedings.
- The Publisher has the right to reject papers that do not conform with the theme of the proceedings. If your paper is rejected for this reason, our committee will contact you and suggest an alternative publication. An additional publication fee may be required in some cases.
For Presenters
ISCEE 2022 requests all presenters to conform with the given presentation guidelines, paying particular attention to the method and requirements for your virtual presentation.
Presentation Guidelines
- Presentations during the ISCEE 2022 technical sessions will be conducted virtually.
- Each presenter will be allocated a slot to present their paper orally during the technical sessions. If you are presenting more than one paper, you will be given multiple slots.
- As per requirement by SCOPUS, presenters will have to present their paper live during the ISCEE 2022 online technical sessions. The time given for each oral presentation is a maximum of eight (8) minutes.
- The Q&A session will be conducted immediately after each presentation. A maximum of five (5) minutes will be allocated for each Q&A session.
- Your oral presentation must be accompanied by Microsoft PowerPoint slides. Please prepare a maximum of ten (10) slides. This is to ensure that your oral presentation does not exceed the time limit.
- Presenters will have to upload their PowerPoint slides before the conference. We will provide a Google Form link for you to register and upload your PowerPoint slides.
- When preparing your presentation slides, special attention must be paid to the font size chosen (i.e. no smaller than 20 pt), the choice of colour scheme for the background and text, avoiding text-heavy slides, avoiding injudicious use of object builds (animations) and slide transitions, and keeping your presentation as simple as possible.
- Presentations will be conducted via Zoom or Google Meet. Thus, all presenters will have to install the app to their personal computer, laptop or tablet, and get accustomed to the app.

Congratulations to authors whose papers have been accepted for presentation at ISCEE 2022. The presentation schedules are provided below. Kindly note that these schedules may be subject to change. Therefore, presenters are advised to refer to these schedules in real-time.
Register & Submit
ISCEE 2022 is an event not to be missed. Join us as a presenter or an attendee.
Registration Policy
- All participants must register to attend ISCEE 2022 either as a presenter or an attendee.
- One registration serves one (1) participant only.
- The registration fee includes admission for one (1) person to the two-day symposium (keynote addresses and technical sessions for all three conferences), symposium certificate and professional services charge.
- Presenter registration fee also includes publication and review fees for one (1) paper in the symposium proceedings that will be indexed by SCOPUS, among others.
- An author in the role of first author shall submit a maximum of two (2) papers only. The additional paper by the same first author will incur an extra charge to the registration fee.
- Registrations may not be transferred to anyone.
- Only paying participants will be allowed access to the virtual conference and receive symposium certificates. Co-authors, who wish to participate must register as attendees and pay the fee.
- Once the registration fees have been paid there will be no refunds.
Cancellation Policy
Confirmed registrants who do not participate or who cancel will forfeit their registration fees. Refunds will not be given for no-shows. ISCEE 2022 reserves the right to cancel any event if the minimum registration is not met. In the event of an ISCEE 2022 cancellation, all registration fees will be refunded.
No-Show Policy
Papers that are accepted must be presented at ISCEE 2022, either by the authors themselves, or via proxy. In case a paper is not presented at ISCEE 2022, it shall be deemed a "no-show". No-shows will be removed from post-symposium distribution and will not be available on open-access publications.
Exceptions to this policy will be made in rare and unusual situations by the Organising Committee only if there is evidence that the no-show occurred because of unanticipated events beyond the control of the authors, and that every option available to the authors to present the paper was exhausted.
Authors of no-show papers wishing to appeal the no-show status of their paper must appeal by email to the Organising Committee no later than 14 days after the start of ISCEE 2022 and must provide evidence to convincingly demonstrate that their absence was as a result of forces beyond their will and control, or that an erroneous decision was made.
Decisions on appeals will be made by the Organising Committee based on the supporting evidence provided. Failure to meet the appeals deadline will automatically result in rejection of the appeal. Possible evidence for exceptions include medical documents, death notices, and other official documents supporting the appeal.
